St. Martinville, LA

Excerpt from Recommendation:

"Restoration is a very difficult process. This Church was built in 1838, is the oldest church in the State of Louisiana, and was raised to the rank of national monument in 1972. One can imagine how much research and painstaking labor was required to be sure that the original work was properly restored.

When all the carpentry and masonry work was completed, the main worry was to locate an ecclesiastical artist who was not only competent in decorating a church, but even more importantly, who could match original colors and designs so that the original beauty could be preserved.

We found experts in the Godfrey Statuary of Ecclesiastical Art Studio of New Orleans, Louisiana. Their work on the statuary, their stencil work, their marbleizing and their gold-leaf work is second to none which we have seen. We are extremely pleased with their work and the favorable comments of the parishioners confirm our opinion."

Very Rev. Kenneth R. Morvant, V.F. Pastor

Windthorst, TX

Excerpt from Recommendation:

"The Godfrey Studio of Ecclesiastical Art of Divide, Colorado and New Orleans, Louisiana have just finished redecorating our church. This was the third time the Godfrey's have worked for me, and I would not hesitate to have them again here or wherever I may be sent as pastor.

Our church is now most beautiful. Lillian, John and Belinda Godfrey have taken our church from abundant neglect and given it the beauty of the finest Cathedral. They are extremely particular in the work they do. They take great pride and joy in their work and it shows. The are very neat and the church is always kept in order. The Godfrey's are true artists and craftmen, which today is hard to find.

Their artistic ability in blending colors and designing is unsurpassed. Their statuary work is as beautiful as if it were new. It truly is factory finished.

The Godfrey's travel nation-wide to execute their art, and they are well know though-out the country for their truly fine work."

Rev. Bartholomew J. Landwermeyer, Pastor
